One of the worst pub meals ever! Serving staff are basically untrained teenagers who have no real interest, the food was slow to come out (more than 1/2 hour for a starter) and the main dish was an inedible tiny portion of reheated ox cheek for £21!! Utterly ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that the bar had very little stock and the menu had all of the popular items out of stock! Genuinely will never return to this beautiful looking pub until the management change. The current licensee’s really don’t seem to care, which is sacrilege.,

Really fantastic meal here. Got the cheddar soufflé, pea risotto, fish & chips, and sticky toffee pudding. Each dish was better than the last, and was some of the best food we had on our trip. Sticky toffee pudding was gone in probably under a minute even though we were stuffed when it came out -it was that good. I will note that the service took a while. We were there for about 2.5-3 hours despite trying to have a speedier meal. Garden was absolutely beautiful just before sunset.

A quaint little no-frills pub. We stopped here for dinner and both had burgers. The chicken burger was fine, but nothing exceptional. The brisket burger was nice, but didn’t come with fries so had to get a side which cost £6, which seems far too much to charge for such a thing. The desserts we had were both nice. Disappointing that they don’t let dogs in the dining room and only in the bar area, so had to sit there with our pooch.

Fitted us in even when they were full. Food was 10/10, Beef Cheeks possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. Utterly delicious

What a fantastic little pub/restaurant. Very friendly staff incredible coffee and probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. Homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas compliment it very well. Crunchy batter, fresh fish and triple cooked chips. The wife had a halloumi burger which she said was delicious. Well done to everyone that works there, you provide a great experience. 10/10.

There is no country side trip if we don’t have a stop at the Chequers. Always try to ask what are the “today’s specials.” However I always make sure to order the liver with mashed potatoes. So tender and juicy. Can’t wait to be back for this! And the great environment. The doggies love it too. (Just because they know where they keep the dog treats) 🙈 See you soon Nikki
